I'll be the first to say it. The new girl on Gawker just doesn't have it. She reads like a girl trying to keep up with the clever bitchiness of gay friends, with bitchiness that is not clever. Choire made you feel that he really was in a position on high to deal out condescending blows - Jessica doesn't. While trying to ape Choire's style she just seems nasty - but doesn't radiate the kind of intelligence required to make one take her presumptuousness seriously, or to laugh.
You're right---I've been thinking the same thing. The fact is, many, many bloggers try to imitate Choire. Having known him for almost 18 years it's a little hilarious to see.

But the thing is, he, uh, really is in the position to deal out those blows. His brain is huge and on fire. She should be required to IM with him daily for three months to train in sassy snapbacks. And she'd have to read about 3,000 books.
