Bubba Ho-Tep

Bubba Ho-Tep is brilliant, sad and funny. Starring MY personal favorite, Bruce Campbell, star of the Evil Dead movies, as Elvis and Ossie Davis as a man who thinks he's JFK. They're roommates in an East Texas nursing home whose residents are being killed by an ancient Egyptian Mummy Soul Sucker named Bubba Ho-Tep. This film is David Lynch meets Sam Raimi. Amidst the apparently ridiculous situation, you are still drawn in emotionally in much the same way that Superstar draws you in (despite being acted out by dolls). It's a heartfelt meditation on age and regret and the true frailty of our icons. It's ironic, but not in the typical camp way - its very sincere. This film came out last fall in limited release. Rent it.
